Common Underside Myths

“You only need to clean your underside once”

False Dirt, salt, and moisture constantly build up underneath your car, especially on Scottish roads.

Even a freshly coated car starts collecting grime again within weeks.

That build-up traps water against metal and slowly breaks down protection layers.

Think of it like servicing your engine — it needs upkeep, not a one-off clean.

Regular underside maintenance keeps coatings effective and corrosion away.

“Rust Stops On Its Own”

Once corrosion begins, it never stops spreading unless it’s treated.

Even if it looks dry or “stable”, oxidation continues beneath the surface.

Moisture and oxygen feed the process — every damp day makes it worse.

Left alone, small patches spread into structure-threatening corrosion.

The only fix is to remove or neutralise the rust, then seal it off completely.

“Underseal Fixes Everything”

It doesn’t — underseal only protects what’s already clean and solid.

When applied over dirt or rust, it seals in moisture and accelerates decay.

We often strip cars that look spotless underneath — until the coating comes off.

Old coatings crack, peel, and trap water right where it shouldn’t be.

Proper prep makes all the difference — clean metal first, then quality protection.

Proper Prep & Coating = Lasting Protection

There’s no shortcut to doing it right — we always start with a full inspection and deep clean.

Depending on condition, we’ll treat rust, apply primer, add stonechip or sealant, then finish with Lanoguard or a corrosion inhibitor.

Each layer has a job: treat, protect, seal, preserve.

That’s why our results last through Scottish winters — not just one season.

Clean. Treated. Protected. That’s how you stop rust for good.
