4x4 Rust Traps
- Chassis Clean

They’re built tough.
But not rust-proof.

Wheel Arches & Inner Lips
One of the biggest hidden traps.
Mud, grit, and salt get blasted up and packed tight behind the arch liners — especially after winter drives or off-roading.
That build-up holds moisture for weeks, slowly eating into metal seams and the lips of the panels.
Even if it looks fine from the outside, the inside edge could be flaking away.
✅ Rinse your arches regularly and remove liners once or twice a year for a deep clean or inspection.
Sills & Body Mounts
The sills and body mounts take more punishment than most people realise.
They flex, trap moisture, and catch road spray directly from the tyres.
Blocked drain holes inside the sills let dampness sit for months — rusting from the inside out long before it’s visible.
By the time bubbles show on the outside, the inner sill can already be paper thin.
✅ Check and clear drains, and make sure your mounts are rust-free and coated properly to keep everything solid.

Chassis Rails & Crossmembers
They look solid and indestructible — but box sections are rust magnets.
Moisture gets inside through tiny drain holes or damaged coatings and just… stays there.
The inside surfaces never dry, and corrosion spreads quietly until it’s too late.
We’ve seen chassis that look fine outside but crumble when cleaned.
✅ Regular inspections and internal protection (like cavity wax or lanolin-based coatings) are the only way to stop it for good.
Fuel & Brake Lines
Fuel and brake lines corrode quietly where the clips and brackets hold them tight against the chassis.
Road grime builds up behind those clips, trapping moisture directly onto the lines.
You usually won’t spot it until it fails an MOT or starts leaking — and by then, it’s too late.
✅ A full inspection, proper clean, and protective coating here is one of the best preventative steps you can take.

Suspension Arms, Brackets, & Mounts
Suspension components live right in the firing line.
They catch every bit of grit, salt, and spray the tyres can throw at them.
Once rust starts here, bolts seize, bushings wear unevenly, and repairs become expensive fast.
Many coatings crack around suspension mounts due to constant movement, letting corrosion creep back in.
✅ We strip, treat, and re-coat these areas with flexible protection that moves with the car — not against it.
4x4s are built for the rough stuff. But Scotland’s roads and winters are tougher.
Whether it’s a Defender, Land Cruiser, or pickup, the same story applies: if it’s not cleaned and protected, rust will win.
We clean, treat, and re-coat every inch— inside and out —so your chassis lasts for years, not seasons.
