What We Do
Car Rust Proofing, Underbody Cleaning & Protection
Car rust proofing in Scotland from our specialist workshop in Blantyre, Glasgow
Using dry ice blasting, vapour blasting, media blasting & protective coatings, we clean, prepare & protect vehicle undersides against corrosion, road salt, moisture and long-term wear.
Every vehicle is inspected first so we can recommend the right approach, whether that means careful cleaning, rust treatment, undersealing or full underbody protection.
Dry Ice Blasting
Dry ice blasting is a non-abrasive, chemical-free cleaning process used to remove dirt, grease, old underseal and loose contamination from vehicle undersides. It is ideal for rust proofing preparation because it cleans thoroughly without adding moisture or damaging sensitive components.

Why we use it
We use dry ice blasting where precision matters most. It allows us to clean chassis rails, suspension components, painted surfaces, rubber parts and wiring safely while preparing the underside for rust treatment and protective coatings.
Because it's dry and non-abrasive, it removes contamination without introducing extra corrosion risk.
When it's right
Dry ice blasting is the right choice for vehicle underside cleaning, MOT preparation, engine bay cleaning and restoration work where original finishes need to be preserved. It's especially effective before rust proofing or underbody protection when the goal is to remove grime, residue and failing coatings without aggressive abrasion.
The Benefits:
-
Non-abrasive — safe on paint, rubber, plastics & wiring
-
Dry process — no moisture, no drying time
-
Ideal for rust proofing preparation and underbody cleaning
-
Removes grime, residue and failing underseal without harsh chemicals
Typical Pricing:
From £200/hr, Underside Clean from £800, Engine Bay from £400.

Vapour Blasting
Vapour blasting is a controlled wet-media process used to clean and restore metal components affected by oxidation, grime and light corrosion. It is ideal for parts that need a clean, even finish as part of a wider vehicle restoration or rust proofing project.
Why we use it
We use vapour blasting where components need more than basic cleaning. It restores aluminium and other soft metals safely, making it ideal for parts that are being refurbished, rebuilt or prepared as part of a wider underside restoration or corrosion treatment job.
When it's right
Vapour blasting is best for engine components, brackets, manifolds, rocker covers and aluminium castings where a clean restored finish is needed without aggressive material removal. It suits vehicles undergoing restoration, component refurbishment or detailed corrosion clean-up.

The Benefits:
-
Restores oxidised metal to a clean, even finish.
-
Ideal for reusable parts during restoration work
-
Safer than aggressive media for soft alloys.
Typical Pricing:
From £200/hr for vapour blasting work; component cleaning packages available.
Media Blasting
Also known as glass bead blasting.
Media blasting is used where thicker underseal, stubborn coatings and heavier corrosion need to be removed before rust treatment and protective coatings can be applied. It gives us the mechanical cutting power needed to prepare metal properly when dry ice blasting alone is not enough.

Why we use it
We use media blasting when a vehicle underside has heavy build-up, failed underseal or more advanced corrosion that needs to be removed back to stable metal. This allows us to treat rust properly and apply long-term protective coatings to a sound surface.
When it's right
Media blasting is the right choice for full underside restorations, vehicles with decades of old underseal, and localised areas of heavier corrosion that need mechanical preparation before rust proofing or coating. It is used selectively where more aggressive cleaning is needed.
The Benefits:
-
Cuts through thick underseal, stubborn coatings & heavy build-up
-
Prepares metal for rust treatment, epoxy primers and protective coatings
-
Controlled, localised aggression — used only where needed
Typical Pricing:
Often used alongside dry ice/vapour for full restoration.
Media jobs quoted per-vehicle once inspected.
Vehicle Rust Proofing
& Underbody Protection
Our car rust proofing and underbody protection service starts with a full inspection, followed by the right cleaning method for the condition of the vehicle. Depending on what we find, this may include dry ice blasting, media blasting, rust treatment and protective undersealing to help protect the underside from corrosion, moisture, salt and road grime.

Our Approach
We don't use a one-size-fits-all underseal. Every vehicle is inspected first to identify active corrosion, failed coatings, weak spots and access requirements. We then choose the correct cleaning and preparation method before applying rust treatment, primer and the right protective coating system for the vehicle and how it's used.
Why it matters
Proper preparation is what makes vehicle rust proofing effective. If coatings are applied over loose rust, old underseal or contamination, they will not bond properly. By cleaning and preparing the underside first, we create a stable surface that can be treated and protected for long-term resistance against corrosion, salt and Scottish road conditions.
Benefits:
-
Helps protect the underside from corrosion, salt and moisture
-
Removes failed coatings and contamination before treatment
-
Tailored to the condition and use of the vehicle
-
Suitable for classics, daily drivers, vans and performance cars
-
Built around proper preparation, not quick cover-up work
Typical Packages:
-
Underbody Cleaning & Coating from £650 — Ideal long-term preservation.
-
Full Underside Restoration & Protection from £1,450 — Deep strip-back and premium coatings.

Vehicles We Work On
We carry out rust proofing, underbody cleaning and underbody protection on a wide range of vehicles, from daily drivers and vans to classics, 4x4s and performance cars.
Each vehicle is assessed individually so the cleaning, treatment and coating process matches its condition, age and intended use.
-
Classic and collector vehicles often need a more careful preservation-led approach to protect original finishes and vulnerable components.
-
Daily drivers, vans and 4x4s usually need durable rust protection that stands up to regular road use, moisture and winter salt.
-
Modern performance cars often need a balanced approach that protects the underside without compromising sensitive parts or factory finishes.
If a vehicle is used on Scotland’s roads, it is exposed to moisture, grit and seasonal salt that can accelerate underside corrosion. That is why proper inspection, cleaning and protection matter whether the vehicle is a classic weekend car or a daily workhorse.
